Dirty Dash

This last week-end we got the privilege of running Utah's first dirty dash! Ben and I, Lisa, my sister Angel and my sister in law Jami were a awesome team. Go team Murumi ( Dirty in Tagalog) It was was fun. Its a 10K in the mud. Now we knew that it was not an easy run, but we still were kind of slackers and did not train very well. Well maybe I should speak for myself. I did not train very well. We had no idea what we were in for.

We drove up to Soldier Hollow and got ready to run. Well, not really run. The starting line was a uphill mud pit. We made it through the first pit only to realize that most of the trail was uphill and steep. After a few hills, we finally got to head down hill, only to come face to face with giant hay bails that you had to try and hurdle. After 4 sets of hay bails, it was more uphill. It was so fun. Next obstacle was a couple of tubes that you had to crawl through, next a couple walls, and then tires to run through. Not to mention all this was through the mud. Now we were doing pretty good, helping each other, and staying fairly clean and on our feet. That is until my sister decided to tackle me in the mud. Then it was on, we got so muddy and wet. It was awesome. Just when we thought we were about through, you run through a bog of water and mud, stinky mud. Then back up a huge hill. We ended up walking up backwards, because it was easier to go backwards than forward. But at the top, a giant water slide. 5 person waterside. It was so big that you could not make it to the bottom. Well Ben made it. The rest of us had to stand up and run and slide again. And of course you landed in a mud pit at the bottom. As I made it to the bottom the guy behind me totally took me out. We both went flying and I landed right on top of him. It was hilarious. Though I was sore the next day. At the end, you had to climb over a sand hill, into a mud pit that was up to your waist. We all just cannonballed in and crawled over and under the ropes to finally cross the finish line. I can not wait to get our pictures from Angel. Her husband Josh was our cameraman. He got some great video and pictures of us through out the race.
We all are still sore from the race and Ben and Lisa both got cuts and scrapes that are now infected on their legs. Sorry Lisa, I pushed her into a creek and she cut her leg. Ben just slipped and fell running through a mud puddle.
Cant wait to do it next year. 5 people to a team, so lets get our teams together and have a huge team.

More Hawaii

Aloha Hawaii

We were so lucky in August to go with the Gunns to Hawaii. We went to Oahu, and got to spend a week in paradise. We were so busy and had such a blast. We arrived on Sunday and other than being super nauseous, we had a great day. We ate at Dukes for dinner and watched the sunset on Waikiki beach. It was amazing. Sunday we went to Pearl Harbor and fulfilled a childhood dream. I had always wanted to go see Pearl Harbor. It was indescribable. It truly is a special place.
Monday was our surfing day. We took lessons from Hawaii Fire, it is the local fireman that teach you. It was a blast!! It was my favorite activity. We saw Monk Seals right on the beach but luckily no sharks!

Tuesday we went to the PCC. It was really interesting we had yummy food at the Luau!

The rest of the week was spend hanging out on awesome beaches, snorkeling and body surfing. We ate so much food, I'm sure I gained 10 pounds.

Sorry all these pictures are out of order, but I'm a crappy blogger! This was just a quick overview of the trip.More pictures to come.

Hawaii Fire!!

This was one of our favorite things to do in Hawaii. Surfing. It was so much work and we were all sore the next day,but it was worth it. We loved it.

My boys

I cant believe that all my boys are getting so big. Boston and Jae are both in school now. Boston is in Kindergarten at Wasatch Peak and Jaegan started preschool at Ms. Amber's. He was a little nervous about it, every time we talked about it. But on the "big day", he did great. Ben had a little time and was able to go with us to drop him off. He just walked right in and was not sad at all when we left. Ben started back to school also and so all 3 of my men are in school. I feel a little bit bad that I am not in school, but after only a couple weeks have realized that I am more busy than I thought I would be. Between homework and getting everyone ready we are pretty busy. I also started watching my nieces and am loving it. They are such great little ones. Well, we are off to back to school night, so I will call it a night.
PS. I promise to blog about of Hawaii trip one day. Its just miss it to much to blog about it right now..
