Correction

Jaegan is not learning to write. He is smart but not that smart he is only one. Ben ment to say he is learning to walk.. I wish I had that kind of teaching power.

My life the past month...

While Jenny has taken the time to blog lately, I haven't. I'll admit that it's been a stressful few weeks with starting a new job, coordinating two moves (one to my parents, one into our new home), closing on a home, trying to meet neighbors and remember all of their names, trying to remember all the names of the people you work with, getting used to a new ward at a new time where the block is opposite of anything your kids have ever known...well, let me just say, I've had a lot going on. Also, I haven't had access to the internet and I've not been able to find the spare moment at work that I could devote to posting even a short blog entry. We finally got internet access at home (I'm still on the fence as to whether it's a good idea. Gas prices have kept Jenny at home, but now she can shop online!), so I thought I'd take a couple of minutes and get caught up a little.

I think Jenny wrote a little about our trip to Park City. I, too, look forward to this trip as our annual, unofficial start to Summer. Although the weather didn't quite cooperate as in the past, it was still a great kick-off to a new season in our lives, not just this year. We went up on a Friday and ended up closing on our home that next Tuesday. I had only been in my job about two weeks and was still feeling my way through things. We still managed to have a wonderful time. I appreciate my father's willingness to share what he has with us to help us get and stay closer as a family.

I'll never forget our 9 hole excursion Saturday morning through frozen rain and cold as we all tried to keep our heads about us while playing a golf on the Lake course at Wasatch. Erik came the most unhinged over the course of the round, culminating with a broken putter on the 8th hole. I had to use a pick-ax to get the head out of the turf after he slammed it in there in a fit of frustration. My dad barely managed to stay alive as he pretty much played as a single almost a hole ahead of us the whole round. Erik nearly killed him twice on one hole! A couple of times he didn't even put his bag or umbrella down to putt. Needless to say, we all conceded gimmes of at least 8 feet so we could scramble back to the cart to get out of the rain. The weather actually started to turn for the better as we walked up the ninth fairway. We considered making the turn, but were all so soaked and miserable that we decided to call it a round. I never knew Burger King had such delicious hot chocolate!

We also enjoyed some of our annual traditions like dinner at Baja Cantina (the halibut taco was amazing!), Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (the Apple Pie Caramel Apple was divine) and swimming in the hottubs (Is this your first trip to the Welshley Arms?). We also played WAY TOO MUCH Dr. Mario!

Jenny and I spent one more night in our room at my parents house before some how getting all our beds and junk to our new townhome in Foxboro. I don't know how I was able to talk my dad and Bro-in-law Matt into helping us move the day they got back from Park City, but they helped us clean out what we took to my parents home in one evening. Our POD was delivered the next day and we had pretty much everything unloaded by Saturday morning. My family is truly amazing.

Since then, we've been settling in. I do have to say I had what may have been the best father's day/birthday ever when Jenny finally broke down and let me buy the HDTV that I've wanted for 3 years. I'm pretty hard to buy for since that's all I've wanted for at least that long. Jenny finally conceded and let me get one. Now she's jealous 'cause I've been spending more quality time with it than her (jokes only, joe!). But really, I think she is.

We've also been getting to know our neighbors. It's nice to have a clubhouse and a pool where you can go and know that everyone there at least lives in close proximity to you. We have fun finding out what part of Foxboro everyone lives in and how long they've been here. The earliest settlers, if you will, of Foxboro North have only been here since December, so we feel like we're all on the same playing field. There aren't any established cliques, so that is nice. In the meantime, we continue to have people moving in all around us. Our whole building is full and people have been moving into the complex next door. It's almost too much for us to keep up with.

My job has been going good. I've finally filled an MA position that I've been trying to get filled since, well, before I started. We interviewed and offered a good candidate on Friday, so that is a weight off my shoulders. I'm learning a lot about working in a large corporation. The nice thing about it is there is always someone you can call if you have a problem or a question. I like the people I work with. I met one of the new Urologists and he was a great guy, so that relived some anxiety. You never know what you're going to get personality-wise with these docs, especially when you are starting a clinic from the ground up. It's good to know that they aren't going to be complete tools. Well, at least one of the two.

At any rate, things are going well for us. It's been an exciting time in our lives. Jaegan is learning to write, Jenny is staying home, Boston is being Boston. I'm enjoying the ride. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up a little better now that we have internet access at home.

Miracles

So first miracle, We moved into our house. We got everything packed and shipped and then unpacked without incident. We really are loving our extra space. The boys have toy room, that I'm sure will save their lives more than once. Ben and I love our big bedroom, but it looks so empty with the furniture that we have, so its just a matter of time before I go to RC Willey's, and spend more money that Ben would approve of. oh well that part of buying a new house right?
We have spent a little time at the pool already and have met some very nice neighbors at a block party. So far everything seems to be going great. If anyone wants to come and swim, please do. Its always fun with someone else.
Miracle 2. I found my wedding ring. So for you that dont know, We went to hawaii 3 yeares ago and I lost my wedding ring the day we got back. I thought that I had put it in a bag of paper and thrown it away. It was the only thing I could think of. I looked everywhere, we toar apart every suitcase and the car, my dad's house. So I had given up on it, and was buying cheap knock offs off ebay. They were fine,but I always wanted my wedding ring. Every now and then I would think of some place new to look and nothing. So the day we were moving in, Ben moved a few things into the garage and then looked down and there it was sitting on the floor of the POD.Just like that, we couldnt come up with what it could have been in or on. But it truley was a miracle. So Im officially married again.

Happy Birthday Ben!

Today is Ben's birthday and he turned the big 28. I love him so much and appreciate all his hard work and support. He really is such an amazing father and husband. We all love you. I hope that you have a great day.

Jaegan is One

Its true, Jae had a birthday. He is growing so big and learning so much. We had a birthday party for him. I think that Jae kind of looks like a monkey so we had a Curious George party. We had a Fun time. Thanks to everyone that came and shared his fun day with us. Jaegans favorite part was the cake of course, Ben let me give him the whole thing and he went to town. Ill post pictures when I learn how.
Jaegan is such a good boy. He is learning how to walk and talk. He can say Mama, Dada, and Uh Oh, and I swear the other day he said cracker. He is so smart. I love that little monkey so much. Its so fun to watch him grow and learn. I cant believe how much they grow in the first year. Check back with us to watch him grow.

Park City

We have had another busy week. We are in Park City, thanks to the Gunn Father. He has a time share that we come to once a year for a week. We all look forward to it, and have a great time. We just wanted to say thanks to Craig and Keri for all they do for our family. We love and appreciate them so much.
So our week stared good. We got here late Friday night,and I realized that I forgot my purse. How can I go to the outlets if I have not money. Crap!! So Ben assured me that he would go with me and have a good time. We all were having a good time, shopping and spoiling our kids. I noticed that Jaegan wasn't feeling well and had a fever, so we went to the local Wal-Mart and got some Tylenol and Motrin. Every 2 hours we were trying to break his fever which didn't happen until Tuesday. He was miserable, I finally broke down and drove to Salt Lake to take him to the Dr on Monday. He just had a bad cold. The Dr did tell me I should talk to his pediatrician about his weight "to make sure he was growing properly". I just laughed, his has never met my dad. Jae is just going to be a Wright boy, Small. Ben and I didn't give him much to go with either. Anyways, he finally is feeling better and we are having a good time. Today is our last day up here and was had big plans of swimming, hot tubing, or as Boston calls them "warm tubs, hot tubs are to hot" and possibly a movie. We woke up to SNOW, so I scrambled for warm clothes. We are glad to be here though. We make lots of memories, and laugh a lot. Thanks again.

Oh, this week Ben and I also became home owners. We finally closed on Tuesday ( even though I forgot to take my photo ID) and are happy to move into our own place. We will have to have a party and have everyone down to play, we live in a little community, so there is a pool and lots of tot lots. Well I should go and find my kids, and hopefully, so shops will be open so I can get a coat for Jae.

Hockey

As you can tell from looking at the time stamp, it's very late (for me) on a Monday night. I do have to get up and go to work tomorrow. I have a pretty busy day ahead to boot, but I had to stay up and watch the end of one of the best hockey games I've seen in a long time. Yes, hockey...

It was game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals between Pittsburgh and Detriot. While I don't really have a rooting interest in either team, I wanted to Penguins to win mainly because they're the underdog and it would be fun to see them push the mighty Red Wings to a sixth game in Pittsburgh. The Penguins led most of regulation 2-1 until the 3rd period when Detriot ripped 2 quick goals to go ahead 3-2. The final period was pretty much dominated by Detriot until the final minute when Pittsburgh pulled their goalie to have the extra man on offense. With about 13 seconds to go, the Penguins scored the tying goal.

The game went to OT while Jenny and I went for a run. I fully expected it to be over by the time we got back, but it was still tied with a little over six minutes to go. Each team had some great looks, but the goal keeping was amazing. The game goes to a second overtime. Again, each team plays back and forth to a stand still. Finally, less than 10 minutes into the third overtime, Pittsburgh gets a power play on a Detriot penalty. One of the Penguins who had been injured in the second period comes back in the third overtime to make the assist on the game-winning sudden-death goal. It really was an amazing game.

It's really too bad that the NHL had to kill itself off due to a strike. As far as pure excitement, non-stop action, tough, skilled players go, hockey has to be towards the top of the heap. What these guys do on skates is amazing. The control they have to put the puck exactly where it needs to be is insane. The punishment that they go through game-to-game is unreal. One of the Penguins players took a slapshot to the face in the second period and was back on the ice in the first overtime! A PUCK TO THE FACE, PEOPLE! ON A SLAPSHOT! COME ON!

I hope that there is a resurgence to get hockey back among the major sports. As much as I like soccer, as much fun as arena football is, and as much as I wish there was prime time exposure for ultimate frisbee, hockey really needs to retake it's rightful place as the 4th great American sport.
