One Crazy Week-end

Last January Ben and I went on a cruise and left our two boys with Judd and Amy for 10 days. Needless to say we have owed them some babysitting time.
So this week-end we took the kids for the week-end. I was so excited to let Boston and Tyler play together all week-end, that I didn't think about the fact that we live in a 3 bedroom town house. Not a lot of room.
They had such a good time though. They came over Friday night and ate dinner and then everyone went to bed. Ben was gone to a scout camp, so I was on my own the first night. I kept thinking that I should go to bed as well, but I don't sleep well when Ben is gone, so I stayed up late so I would be tired and sleep better. This was not a good idea, for Tyler is not a very good sleeper. We were up almost all night. We got about 3 hours of sleep.
Everyone got up and we started our Saturday. Ben got home and I put him in charge and I snuck a hour nap. Everyone played so good together, and by about 4 everyone was in need of a change of pace. We didn't have a car that would fit everyone so we really couldn't go anywhere and so we decided to try out the Kangaroo Zoo that is just down the street. It is a inside blow up bounce zoo. Lots of bounce houses and slides. They had so much fun. We stayed a couple of hours and by then end, everyone was sweaty and super sleepy. I was super stoked thinking that everyone would sleep better.
After a bath and dinner, everyone was put to bed and a I prayed that everyone would sleep soundly through the night. Ben and I hit the hay and after putting Tyler back to bed 3 times, we finally were ready to sleep. Not 5 minuted after we laid down, our fire alarm went off. Luckily just once and then nothing. Ben got up and checked things out, finding no fire. So we went back to bed. We had a better night, still not the sleep I was hoping for.
Sunday we decided to skip church and go to the park. We had so much fun. Everyone loved the swings, even Jaegan. Ben had to go to church and so again I was left on my own with all 5 kids. Sunday really was a good day and we were excited to have the kids over.

A few things that we have learned after having 5 kids.
1. We will need a bigger place if we have more kids
2. My brain does not work in the middle of the night
3. A mom of 5, has no time for anything, but cleaning and cooking
4. Inside play areas are life savers during the winter
5. Some times you just have to bundle up to get out of the house
6. Two parents is WAY easier than 1
7. You can never find the things you need when you need them ( camera)
8. With 5 kids, you don't have time to look for things that you need
9. Deacons are crazy ( They got into a fight at church and Ben had to break it up)
10. We love our niece and nephews.

What a nice Aunt! Why doesn't Tyler sleep? I know I wouldn't be able to handle it so good work! Oh and I guess we have dinner and breakfast 1 day, so call me and we'll figure out what to do okay?

how fun! That is nice of you to take the kids. it is amazing what a little break from the stinkers does! I look forward to the day when I can pawn my kids off onto my sisters, but they have their hands way too full right now! Good things to know about having 5 kids!
