A lot obviously has been going on. My job has kept me extremely busy over the last month or so as we've wrapped up everything for the opening of the new clinic I'm managing. Our first day seeing patients was Monday. There have been about 100 additional things that have come up. I thought we would have about a week to get the clinic ready to go once construction was complete. It turned out we had about a day once our facilities manager showed up with his punch list of fixes and re-dos. Last week was especially stressful as I tried to stay on top of getting everything we would need to get underway seeing patients while trying to work around a clinic that was still technically under construction.
It was especially tight given the 24th of July cut the last full week of construction short. It was nice to have a little break before the chaos, though. Jenny's given her assessment of the run on the 24th. I actually really enjoyed myself. It has been a while since I've run that far, but we made it and felt good doing it.
I followed that up by golfing with my dad and brothers on our 2nd (hopefully) annual man trip/golf odyssey. I ended up playing some pretty good golf and took home the, uh, trophy. There's nothing tangible, just the satisfaction of being the Man Trip Champ for a year. It was a lot of fun hanging out with the boys and my dad. By the way, if you're in Provo, check out the Smokehouse downtown. I think it's the best BBQ I've ever had.
Other than that, things have been pretty business-as-usual. We went up to the lake one evening last week. It was a blast, probably the best night this year.
We took the boys to Lagoon last night. We've been a little nervous about taking Boston since last year when he didn't ride a thing. He's also been a huge chicken and hasn't really ridden the waverunners this year. He must have grown some courage, though, as he wanted to go on everything! It was a lot of fun taking him on all the rides he could go on. He went on a couple of rides all by himself and loved them all. He didn't want to leave and wanted to go back all day today. It made me even more excited for Disneyland next spring. He's gonna love it!
Well, I have a tendency to write these giant catch-up blogs. I'll try to be better as we wind down the summer.
By the way, I've been spending WAY TOO MUCH time watching the Olympics. I hope you all got to see the Mens 4x100 freestyle relay. That is what the Olympics are all about. I really enjoy all these fringe sports once every four year. It's amazing to see the results of that kind of dedication and the joy that comes from success through sacrifice. I love the patriotism as well. USA! USA! USA!
